John 7:1-9
The central message of this sermon is that God's timing often differs from our own expectations and schedules, and trusting in His timing requires faith and patience. This theme is illuminated through the story of Jesus' brothers, who did not believe in Him because they were expecting Him to fulfill their predetermined script for the Messiah, but Jesus was operating on a different schedule, one that would ultimately lead to His crucifixion and resurrection. The sermon suggests that we too often find ourselves trapped by our own expectations and misunderstandings, like Jesus' brothers, but that trusting in God's timing allows us to see beyond our limited perspectives and understand the bigger picture. This idea advances the belief that God is sovereign over all things, including time, and that His ways are not always bound by human logic or schedules. The takeaway for listeners is that they must learn to trust in God's timing, even when it seems delayed or unclear, and have faith that He is working all things out according to His perfect plan.
